Yes. IIRC the number is 16 free cars due to Bombardiers' lateness. That's 8 additional 10 car trains so the C can be 600'. Not that I'm saying the C should get the R179's, I would give them to the A and let the part time C have all R46's. The A would be a mixture of R46 and R179's till the R211's can wipe out the balance of the R46's. At that point I'd put all the 10 car R179's on the C with the balance being R68, 68A or R211, but I'm getting too far ahead right now! The G getting 8 car R179's makes a lot of sense, but transit has to get away from the idea of 4 car weekend OPTO with those 60' cars. The G is too crowded on weekends for short trains.Getting free stuff from the manufacturer isn't without precedent. On the bus side, 2009 Orion hybrid NG's #4701/4702 assigned to Grand Ave. were freebies due to the order being late. |
