As it was mentiond in the book, "Commuter Trains to Grand Central", the Putnam was a poor sister to the Harlem and Hudson Lines. Even today, the Put would be useless unless it went somewhere where rail service is really needed. IMHO, the Put could be used for the proposed rail service on the hopefully built Tappan Zee Bridge and connect to the Port Jervis line in Suffern and the Pascack Valley Line in Spring Valley. That way, no tying up the Hudson and Harlem lines but this new "Put" needs GCT access.Professor J |
