It was inside fare control even when there was no free transfer (the outside of fare control area that separated the two stations was on the 8 Ave mezzanine). IIRC the turnstiles extended across the passageway. You could walk west towards the PABT and did not pay a fare until you went down to the 8th Avenue subway platforms. If you walked east you paid a fare but then had access to the IRT-BMT Times Square complex. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
