The LIRR had the same spec for the M-3 cars, which were intended from the beginning to accommodate ridership growth. They had to be compatible with the existing M-1 fleet. Ditto MNRR's M-4 and M-6 classes, with the M-2s. Interestingly, though, MNRR's M-3A cars only ran with their own class, at least in the '80s... |
