"Exactly.What comes to mind here is when the LIRR ordered its fleet of "Zip" MU cars from Pullman in 1963, the bid specified that they be able to run with anything electric in its fleet. Thus, it was not unusual to see the new Pullmans with that "Steel Thruway to the Fair Gateway" painted on the sides running with MP-54s that were close to 50 years old. |
