That's what happens when "the powers that be" take over the railroads and pull them out of the private sector.There were EMUs on the commuter railroads that lasted into their 70s (longer if you count their time spent as trailer cars prior to conversion), mostly because the takeover of commuter rail by the public sector happened later than that of the takeover of the NYC subway lines. |
