The PRR/Amtrak wouldn't have chosen a three wire system if it was not superior. Something doesn't smell right because nobody else seems to be having this problem.

I believe that the 3-wire system might allow for easier changing of the contact wire. Maybe SEPTA just needs to invest in some basic maintenance.
