I don't remember pre-1954, but by the time I began to ride around the system at the end of 1956, the Culver-Nassau ran express on 4th Avenue and south through the Nassau Loop, skipping DeKalb both ways. Other hours, the Culver Local ran via tunnel both ways to Chambers Street.I don't recall overnight at the time, but later on the Culver Shuttle ran 36-4 to Ditmas late nights and eventually 9th-Avenue-Ditmas full time. Even then the cuts weren't finished. The Shuttle operated with two tracks and two trains during most hours, eventually becoming the single track. |
