Actually, the R-1s and R-4s did have window shades, a feature not on the later R-6 through R-9 cars and they were removed from the earlier cars although I do remember seeing a few scattered window shades on some of the earlier cars that escaped removal.Then wouldn't the R-1's and R-4's have tracks for the window shades like railroad coaches ?
