Actually, the R-1s and R-4s did have window shades, a feature not on the later R-6 through R-9 cars and they were removed from the earlier cars although I do remember seeing a few scattered window shades on some of the earlier cars that escaped removal. As a bit of trivia, the lady in the movie started carrying around a life sized baby doll so she could get a seat in the subway as was shown in the clip. In the last scene, of the movie she found she no longer needed it and If I recall, she gave it to a male friend of hers on the train who threw it out the train window much to the shock of the restive the passengers. |
