I was in the 8th grade at an awards assembly in the auditorium. Someone came up to the principal standing at the lectern and and whispered something to him.The principal then turned to the audience of teachers and students, 12-16 years old, and announced that "the president has been shot." Sudden dead silence and shock throughout the auditorium..... during the following period, or the one after, we heard he had died. School let out a little early IIRC, people crying in the hallways. |
