The crowds boarding/exiting trains would be spread out between both NYP and GCT, so it's plausible that the situation wouldn't be nearly as dire as you make it out to be. Tracks 1-4 could be retained as stub end for longer distance NJT services that wouldn't be through run (such as something coming in all the way from Trenton or Dover). Those 4 tracks could possibly also be extended onto the lower Montauk, giving those communities a chance at midtown service. Not sure if there are any issues that prohibit that from physically being built. |
