If you can't, I understand. just mentioning this tragedy is still painful to think about - even to those of us who weren't around then. My Dad told me about it*, and then I went and looked it up NYT's microfilm, shocking and sad to read. *he grew up in Middletown, NY, but his family got the Times every Sunday - must have made an impression on him hearing the adults talk about it, he was only eight that year. |
