Of course, the R-17s made their debut on the 6, I think originally, they had all 400, or close to it. but eventually, they ended up with the last 160 or so (6740-6899, though I once saw 6742 on a 3 consist).Seems like the 6 had favored status as far as car assignments: -- first mainline IRT line to get SMEEs (R-17) -- large fleet of married-pair cars (R-26/28/29/33), while the other lines had lots of singles -- had R-62As and R-142As early Of course now, they lost their NTTs to the 7, but I'm sure in about 10 years when it's time to replace the 62/62As, the 6 will be among the first to get the replacements. |
