Mentally,there is something Seriously wrong with the homeless,to be comfortable with being undomiciled.I think a lot has to do with the sheer cost of a place to live. You can feed yourself on less than $30 a day, even in midtown, but an apartment would need at least another $30 a day, and it won't be near where the action is (Penn Station), which means you also have to throw in daily train fare (not to mention utilties). That's assuming the landlord will even rent to you. Being homeless is dangerous, but in some ways, less complicated. |
