Wow, surprised 75/5/transverse has less room than the R46.Of course it isn't just about cramming people into trains, they could just remove all seats if that were the case. It's a balance of comfort and capacity. Increased seated capacity benefits people the other 20 hours of the day, and all day on weekends. Pretty much, the only time removing seats is a benefit is if the train is truly crush loaded. I'd say a combination would be better - have the "A" cars with longitudinal seating and the "B" cars with transverse. |
