There are sufficient candidates from the civil Service list.Hiring more drivers solely due to the L shutdown increases costs to NYCT due to additional payroll and benefits. It also comes down to the efficiency of bus vs. train. You need a lot of buses to handle the crowd from one train. It is more efficient for NYCT to add service to other subway lines where ever they can. |
