If they run what they think is capacity M service, given that it has to also get along with the F, or have no more 480's capable train sets around, and the trains are packed like sardines, then you have to go with more buses. True. But the L will have quite a few spare cars. Huge numbers of people won't be taking the L if the tunnel is closed. And those that do will be more diffused and taking it for shorter rides. For example, someone coming from Canarsie might currently be riding the L into Manhattan. With the tubes closed, they will probably switch to another train at Broadway Junction or Myrtle-Wyckoff. |
