When being built, I remember they were critized for not their style, not fitting in, and for their boxiness, but eventually they became part of the NY skyline.For me that was on one chilly winter night. I had gotten off the subway in the Prince St. neighborhood, or maybe west of that (don't quite remember). I was going out to hear music. I waa walking south, maybe on 7th ave. - and there they were. The twin towers at night, all windows lit, with the bulding's profile amidst the skyline. They were at home and belonged to New York. |
