Of course if the person is identified who made this statement, he is in for some unpaid time off. Even a 10 day suspension is 2 weeks pay.But to fire him is strong. Not worth it to the railroad because it costs money to train a new employee. People get fired for stuff like padding the payroll and operational errors that have a negative monetary effect on the railroad (having to repair infrastructure). Times that by the number of employees you may want fired for other infractions vs. the public, training new employees for those fired wouldn't be justified. Suspend the employee: lesson learned. |
