Actually, it was a wonderful ride. 100, the first R1 built was the south motor; 1802, the last R9, the north motor. Seven cars.The band entertained with several Strayhorn numbers on the wide platform of the station. Then they boarded the train and played on, to great cheers. The ride south was rather slow, because of extra traffic due to the operation of Cs skipping all the CPW local stations. But to this former Music and Art graduate, it was reliving the ride of my youth going home to school. The ride back north was much faster.  |
