I seem to to remember that the Silverliner MU"s built for the RDG side had a different pilot than the ones built for the Pennsy side. I think the SEPTA"s civil engineers determined sometime later that the RDG ones could be deficient in some circumstances, and those cars were retrofitted with the Pennsy type.I also remember the NH M-2's as delivered had no pilots at all, then later got them, though different looking than the M-1's. I do not know why they left it off to begin with. None of these cars were built by Budd. |
