If I wasn't on my phone right now, I'd search for my post about my proposal for city zone LIRR service. Basically, it would have NYC paying LIRR to operate 20 min headways at all city zone stations into Manhattan (and build a few more stations, exact details in the post). Operationally, the LIRR would have all trains from LI make the last stop at the first city zone station and run express from there. Conceptually, it speeds up rides for LIers, but I would love to be able to look into the physical constraints of the RR to see if this is possible and if these LI trains would just end up getting caught behind the local |
