ahh. well, I've lived next to, in order of appearance:

LIRR Rockaway Beach line.
Jamaica avenue el train.
Sea Beach subway line.
New Utrecht Ave el train.
Bay Ridge fourth avenue subway.
LIRR Babylon branch (Babylon, bellmore and lynbrook.

also lived adjacent to the southern state parkway, and the long island expressway.

so I'm not the guy who would object to your scenario...
