Even if they tag on to a mainline order, don't they need to do some customization to accommodate the SIR signaling system? I'm fairly sure it doesn't use trip-arms for stop enforcement. Anything new (other than DMU), whether LRV or railcar based is likely to be AC driven with Inverter/IGBT/VFD and not DC traction. If you wanted/needed to upgrade power, you'd want to do a lifecycle cost analysis of a/c catenary. That of course would alter the equation as to rolling stock choices, but even if nothing ultimately changed, it would sure liven up the discussion forums for a while!
