No. You will not be locked into a subscription plan, because there is no subscription plan. Updates, however will be required for all, unless they have a high class IT department, and pay the licensing fees for Windows 10 enterprise.

There was talk of making Windows a subscription ala Adobe or MS Office, but this is not that. It may morph into something like that, but at that time you should be able to opt out of things like that.

They have this thing called 'One Drive" which is in the Microsoft cloud. the idea is that you can access your stuff from any device, computer, tablet, phone, or toilet.

MS Internet Explore has also gone bye bye. Look now for Microsoft Edge. It is a very stripped down browser, but with some nice features.

The have a new thing, Cortina, to replace that obnoxious paper clip. YOu do have to sign up for this service, and the idea is that it will answer your questions before you ask them. Looks like profiling to me.

I sugest avoiding those apps, LION suggest to use a real proguram instead.
