If I recall from my days as a M/M on the Easter, the post Chrystie roll signs installed on the Eastern’s R-9s were on cloth and not mylar so a sign reading 168 St/Jamaica would have been from that group. Most pre unification BMT destination signs were not necessarily station specific. A pre unification BMT roll sign on and R-1 might have simply read “Jamaica” rather that "168 St/Jamaica” like the signs for Canarsie and Astoria. In fact, even the original destination signs on the R-27s through 38s Read simply “Astoria” rather than “Ditmars Blvd” even though the Jamaica and Canarsie destinations were more street specific.
