Question: Strange NTT Announcement Glitch |
|
Posted by R36 #9346 on Mon Jun 29 15:19:26 2015 I was just on a northbound 2 train. When it opened at Wall Street, it gave an unusual announcement:"This is a Bronx-bound 2 train. The next stop is: Fulton Street" This announcement is made with the same inflection as the current "This is a Wakefield-bound 2 train" announcement made at stations in The Bronx. This is nothing compared to what happened when the train arrived at Fulton Street. "This is: Fulton Street. [Ding!] [Ding-dong!] [static]" The [Ding!] is the sound that precedes a manual announcement. The [Ding-dong!] is the sound that plays as the doors close. The [static] is some kind of indecipherable garbage noise. Sometimes, this sequence happens more than once in an announcement, like at Times Square: "This is: Times Square, 42nd Street. [Ding!] [Ding-dong!] [static] Transfer is available to the Shuttle to Grand Central. Connection is available to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. [Ding!] [Ding-dong!] [static]" Apparently, this is some kind of glitch. What's causing it? |
