It also dips into a huge valley (aka Manhattan Valley) in which 125th street is the lowest point, which is also why 125th on the is on an elevated structure between 121st Street and around 132nd Street, give or take.

From that point on, the area slopes almost steadily (155th Street and Broadway is an exception, and is actually a mini-valley itself) into Washington Heights, and Fort George at 191st Street (by Fort Washington Avenue and Overlook Terrace are the highest points in the city).
