Not only that but on the Lo-Vs and Hi-Vs the end side doors on the cars were at the very ends of the cars and were close enough to the platform edge to make boarding and alighting as safe as possible. On the R types (and also the pre war IRT WF cars as well) the end doors were back from the car ends making them farther away from the platform than on Standard body pre war cars. That necessitated the installation of the gap, fillers to allow operation of R-types into So/Fy station. What I never figured out was that after the gap fillers were installed, at certain times east side trains of Lo-Vs continued operate into So/Fy as they did before the gap fillers were installed and although I rode in there many times on both services, I never paid attention to how the gap fillers were handled with the Lo-Vs.
