As a lynching is an extrajudicial punishment by a mob, which does not necessarily involve hanging and has been carried out against people of all races, Salaam's invocation of a lynch mob is not race related. It is instead the baggage you attach to lynching which is not contained within its definition that leads you to perceive racism where there was not any until you supplied it.And really how aren't the calls for this particularly gruesome example of retaliation for the death of the engineer an example of lynching? His passing is a tragedy, but in no way does it justify the call for the driver to be executed without trial. |
