Yeah, I can see your point. Say in 2027, it's electrified to Riverhead and the DMs/DEs are ready to scrap- they probably wouldn't buy new locomotives to service a short stump, and would also not have the funds to complete electrification.

A change in equipment is how we lost lower Montauk in Queens..
