I was at Times Square at the time and there was a Q on the NB express track that was announcing it was going back to Brooklyn, this at about 5:45 or 5:50. I crossed over to take that train, but it sat for a good 10 minutes before they actually left, so that further messed things up. In the meantime the announcements were being made that Astoria service had resumed with delays, except that I was on the only train that should have been going up that way.

It was nice to be on a totally empty train, until we got to 34th. I was actually waiting for the train that originates at 57th at 5:55. I'll take that one if the timing works but I don't go out of my way for it. That trains is also usually empty. When they started running the Q to Astoria it messed up the southbound commute in the evening. The train is always crowded and frequently delayed. When they all came from 57th you could set your watch to it and always get a seat.
