Which means the last person at the gate is forced to choose between slipping past the gate and making the light, or stopping and being forced to wait another cycle. If they've seen the traffic light go green they may well advance into the intersection in anticipation of the traffic clearing on the far side, until the gate strikes their vehicle and they stop to investigate what the noise is. |
