Yes, except this never was done in any previous snowstorm (at least a total shutdown):Irene and Sandy were one thing, especially since Irene did hit NYC directly (though as a Tropical Storm and not the Catergory 2 Hurricane that was feared) and Sandy hit as it did, but even in 2006, which actually was a worse storm than this one, the subways didn't shut down, nor did they shut down in 2003. That's why I think would be brought up in any potential lawsuits if firms sued the state and MTA to block total shutdowns (making it so at least the underground portions MUST RUN AT ALL TIMES), especially if it adversely affects Wall Street firms. There are a lot of people who put money over everything else and companies who have to deal with shareholders who only care about money and don't care about "how the sausage is made" who see what goes on overseas in similar situations and don't understand the "Ambulance Chaser" society we have here that to me is responsible for this shutdown. |
