In Europe, most everyone stays on the right. If you are in the left lane, and a car comes up behind you, you had better move right pronto or you will be subjected to a barrage of headlight flicking and horn blowing. Left-lane hoggers here refuse to move right when someone is right behind them. This forces you to swing around them to pass on the right. Even when possible, this is a hazard. When not possible, because there are cars in the right lane going at about the same speed, it leads to a line sometimes a mile long of cars blocked by the lane hog -- who is totally oblivious to how he is slowing down everyone else. Infuriating. |
