A similar thing happens on I-95 south in MA when it meets I-93. You have to exit for I-95 even though you're already on I-95. (I understand the numbering is based on route 128 but it still seems strange).The exit numbering was changed from 128's to I-95's in 1988. The I-93 northbound "exit" is actually the main road, similar to WMATAGMOAGH's example but on the "left" (since it was originally the continuation of 128 southbound).
