Obviously they didn't have access to modern abortion back then, but it's clear they regarded a fetus as the property of its father so they'd presumably be OK with abortion on the father's say-so without regard for what a woman herself wants.Or in other words, they'd be a typical American anti-choicer. The whole argument is moot, since without modern abortion, attempting one at the time would have killed the mother. The fact that the Bible itself specifies that a fetus is inherently less "valuable" than a person kind of puts a damper on the religious argument for fetal personhood, though. |
