i like that station on so many levels...the fact that it was on the only lirr branch where not only does each station not resemble any other station on the branch but each station uses a completely different design philosophy: the underground downtown multitrack terminal design of flatbush terminal (yeah, i know, atlantic terminal..screw that, it's flatbush terminal. nuff said.), the elevated-in-your-face nostrand ave., the oddball street level but with subway tunnels at both ends east new york, and finally, the commuter railroad station that thinks it's a stop on a "super-express" subway line, woodhaven. i like the utilitarian (at least to my railfan minimalist design of it. i like the location in woodhaven also. it would have been a cool place (to my railfan mentality anyway) to end a trip from oakdale or farmingdale...especially if it was a snowy night.(the railfan mentality thing again)
