How does traveling all-around Brooklyn to Coney Island and back really help the riders get both to and from their destinations in a timely manner? Such a journey might help the trains, but not the passengers.

Imagine your home station is the N-train station at Bay Parkway and there's no Manhattan bound service - meaning another trip around Brooklyn. Or a rider of the D-train at 25th Avenue, where there's no Manhattan-bound D-trains, but N-trains have replaced the service, because the D-trains have been re-routed up the F-train line. Another convoluted journey just to get to or from Manhattan. Considering the MTA's often terse statements about how "something is not running", it is not a wonder why plenty of riders wonder what the frack the MTA is doing now!

Most riders just want to get to their destinations as quickly and effortlessly as possible, and requiring lengthy trips around Coney Island because it "would be nice" do not really help the riders.
