Many years ago, the two tracks between 103d & 111st under the flyover express track were used for off hour layups. Between 111 & Willets Point. I'd see rush hr put-ins heading twoards Main St on the track adjacent to the Manhattan bound local track.To this day, trains being taken out of service after the rush hr.will make 111st the last stop then head to the yard. Perhaps your mom was on one of the trains that was being taken out of service. |
