I do agree they did great work at Broad, Fulton, and Essex (which was, IMO a hodgepodge of various fuglinesses prior to renovation).Having said that, we can agree to differ on whether the IND look should have been retained elsewhere. I know I'm the only person on here who's voiced that thought, but what the hell :) Anyhow, until very recently, I agree that renovations at IND stations were sort of "off-key"- like at 42nd/8th and 59th/Columbus Circle. Even at Roosevelt Ave, they couldn't match the tile. I also don't like what they did at 34th/6th and 14th/8th. But go to Fulton Street (A/C), and you'd never know that only a year or two ago, it was "Broadway-Nassau". They did a perfect, or nearly perfect job matching the original look. The first time I saw it, it took me a few seconds to realize there'd been a change!! I hope they do that on all future IND renovations. Imagine if they re-did the Archer Avenue stations like that- wowza!! |
