No, I totally approve of the renovations at Broad and Fulton, as well as 8th Ave. (And add Essex St to that too). At all those stations, they did an absolutely fantastic job at recreating the tile look of what should have been there from the beginning. The only reason they didn't get that Centre St line look is that the city cheaped out, and decided to do it in the IND look of the new IND.
There's plenty of actual IND stations where you can admire the simplistic IND look, but I think they did an astounding job at Broad, Fulton, and 8th Ave to match the rest of the line (and Essex, which only had plain white tiles to begin with no decoration).

That said, I also enjoy the simplistic IND look, and unfortunately at many of the renovated IND stations, the new tile does not conform as well as it should to the original IND font and look.
