A way to maintain peak service into Penn in case of North River tunnel closure |

Posted by shiznit1987 on Wed Oct 22 16:39:23 2014 Here's something I thought about to help maintain peak service into Penn in case one of the tubes has to be shut down for emergency maintainence:Have all NJT trains leaving Manhattan from 6am to 1pm depart from Hoboken, and all NJT trains going into Manhattan from 2pm to 10pm depart from Hoboken. What this does is make the overwhelming amount of train flow be in one direction during weekdays with only the odd Amtrak train breaking the chain. And speaking of Amtrak, to help in this endeavor, have the Cardinal, Silver Service, Palmetto and Carolinian all turn out of Washington. Cut Keystones to Philly and place extra cars on the NE Regionals leaving NY. this allows max TPH into Manhattan during rush hours. |
