Increased frequency isn't going to increase ridership on the WH branch during weekends. If one is familiar with the demographics, land use, alternate (and more direct) travel options and parking available around each station it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that nothing is going to increase ridership on this line on the weekend.

This is a line that is very much built around NYC commuters walking to the station and taking rush hour trains into the city in the morning and back home again in the evening. These are middle class families in single-family homes often with two cars. On weekends, they have better options for travel into the city than taking a train that starts out going in the wrong direction.

Increased frequency was a boon to the Port Washington, Babylon and Ronkonkoma branches on weekends -- for exactly the reason you mentioned. The situation on the WH branch is different.
