When we compare our beloved Chicago L to other US subways, the cars are smaller than most. While ideally w/ shorter headways and 10 car trains (as planned for in the Red/Purple rehab IINM ) hourly throughput could be increased, that will not be implemented for perhaps a decade. Meanwhile the more efficient packing of sardines might get ridershome/towork faster than waiting for a less filled train. do I like longitudinal seats? Actually, I choose them as they are closest to the doors on BART and get me out the door gfaster. (ex South Shore resident) |
