Routes 10 and 12 on Benning Road stopped running in 1949. In early darkness in February, 1948, probably the day after Lincoln's Birthday, Dad brought me on the route to Kenilworth, which ended with the PCC backing into a wye. How disappointed I was to learn that Seat Pleasant was abandoned before I could get back to ride it. Those are the routes being replaced now in part.--- The end of the entire system (50,54, 90,92) was in January, 1961, according to Wikipedia. Joe |
