Just for fun, I thought I'd take a stab at what the Lower East Side neighborhood map might look like if the stuff in that picture had ever been built. Two new stations, two new sets of platforms in existing stations, three river tunnels, and a bunch of new track:




Apologies for the IRT color scheme -- I wanted the new lines to be obvious. The extension of the Houston St express tracks is in "6th Ave orange" though.

It's hard to tell from the image what the 2nd Ave local tracks were supposed to do at the station between Clinton and Pitt (which I've taken the liberty of calling "Avenue B"). Looks like some pretty complicated plant there though.

I left the 1960s version of Grand St station intact, even though the original plan had it half a block to the north (bounded by "Schiff Pkwy" (AKA Delancy St) and Grand St).
