It is a bit of a catch-22. If you don't submit to being searched, it does raise suspicions. At the same time, you supposedly have a right to refusal.

Unfortunately, a recent USA Today Poll showed that most Americans were IN FAVOR of the type of searches now going on in the NYC Subway!
