Maintenance guy? Station maintenance? Track maintenance? Plumbing?Every self propelled electric railcar that I know of uses a gearbox with two gears. The pinion gear mounted to the traction motor shaft and the bull gear which is mounted on the axle. The motor turns the pinion gear which turns the bull gear which turns the axle which turns the wheels. Don't believe everything you hear. Some people believe that subway cars have fratostatic yaw damping and the air brake system uses a float valve because of what they heard here. |
